Dr. Gaurav Goel has been associated with the School of Energy & Environment, Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala Campus as an Assistant Professor since July 2021. He is a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering discipline from the prestigious IIT Guwahati and an M.E.Sc. in Geoenvironmental engineering from University of Western Ontario, Canada. Before his move to Thapar he worked as post-doctoral fellow at London South Bank University, UK.

He has rich experience of 17 years obtained in UK, India, Bhutan and Canada. He started his academic journey in 2003 as a Lecturer at NIT Hamirpur upon graduating from NIT Kurukshetra in the same year. He has been management committee (MC) member representing the UK on the European COST Action CA18220 “European network of FURan based chemicals and materials FOR a Sustainable development” project of worth (£120k) supported by the H2020 programme. He worked as working group member on European COST Action CA18125 “Aerogels processing, modelling and environmental-driven applications" and CA17136 “Indoor Air Pollution Network”. To date he has published 26 peer reviewed high-quality Int. journal papers including two papers in Nature Magazine (Asia Materials and Clean water).

Till date, Dr. Gaurav has published peer-reviewed high-quality Int. journal papers in top tier journals like ‘Water Resources Research’, ‘Journal of Cleaner Production’, Journal of Environment Management’ and ‘Construction and Building Materials’, etc.

Research Interests:

His main thrust of research includes waste to energy and solid waste management, water and wastewater treatment, rainwater harvesting, geoenvironmental engineering, nature-inspired materials, and he enjoys collaborating along these lines.
